About Mrs. Nicol

This is my eighth year teaching at GMS. How times flies!  This summer I worked as a teacher with the National Writing Project New Hampshire's Young Writers Institute.  The best summer job ever!  I met young writers from all over the country (and from the Dominican Republic!) and we shared stories and lots of writing.
During the year I like to play cribbage after school with students, help out at homework group when I can, and in the spring I coach Track & Field.

Outside of school I am a voracious reader, and I enjoy fly fishing with my husband and snuggling with my black Labrador, Melly.  She is officially a "domesticated Labrador" and spends much of her time sleeping or carrying around my shoes.
Currently Reading:

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black.

I just finished this novel the other night.  Again - I'm a sucker for fantasy - and this novel is full of faeries, enchantment, evil kings, death, and trickery.  I did not expect the ending, and I'm eagerly anticipating the sequel, due out in January of 2019.
I'm not sure I can wait!

Right now, I'm on the search for my next read!
Currently Writing:

A position paper on whether violent role-playing games are harmful or diverting for teens.

This is the same topic that students are working on, as well.
